CET System and Water Storage

To comply with regulations on effluent discharge, Assenta has designed and installed effective and compliant CET systems and fresh water storage for a range of passenger stock including Heritage, MK1, MK2 and MK3 vehicles.

Each CET system can be modified to suit the vehicle and toilet type which makes it a cost-effective solution.

To date, 52 of our Water Storage Tanks and CET systems have been installed in the UK and Europe.

A particular specialism of ours has been to design bespoke CET systems to allow the retention tanks to be fitted into the skirts of vehicles. For this particular project, we were required to come up with a solution which was both cost effective and simple to execute.

We began the project by evaluating the requirements for CET storage based on usage levels of water on-board the vehicles. This allowed us to design a system which would maximise the size of retention tanks we would fit and allow maximum operational flexibility to the client.

Once initial calculations had been completed and a bespoke system designed which met the client brief, we could then proceed with the various stages of the project including production of 2D Drawings, Technical Instructions, Risk Assessments, System Design Commentary, Hazard Log, Technical Instructions, Test Instructions, Type Test Report, First Fit Report, Fire Control Inventory List, Bill of Materials, Calculations (Data, Electrical & Mechanical), Data Engineering Interface Supply, and Engineering Change documentation etc.

Some of the key challenges on this project involved the relocation of existing equipment and the reworking of maintenance/test procedures for the relocated equipment. However, utilising Assenta Rail’s in-house engineering team who have extensive experience in similar projects, overcoming these challenges was achieved by utilising our experience working on similar projects previously to deliver a practical, workable solution
